In accordance with the guidelines of the Turkish Medical Association’s Coordination Council of Specialty Societies (TTB-UDEK) and the National Competency Board (TUYEK), a “Joint Competency Board” is required when there is more than one National Specialty Society in the same field. Therefore, on January 3, 2015, a “Joint Urology Competency Board” was established by the Urological Surgery Society and the Turkish Urology Society, with 4 representatives from each society, totaling 8 members. It was decided that the board would operate with the President from one society and the Secretary from the other society, alternating every two years.
Representatives of the UCS on the Joint Urology Competency Board:

Competency Exam
The Joint Urology Competency Board initiated efforts to conduct the European Urology Competency exam in Turkish in our country and to have it recognized as the “Joint Urology Competency Exam.” As a result of discussions and agreements with the European Board of Urology (EBU), the written phase of the “European Urology Competency Exam” was conducted for the first time in our country in Turkish on November 18, 2015. Subsequently, the oral phase of the exams continues to be held alternately in Ankara and Istanbul under the sponsorship of the society represented by the President of the Joint Urology Competency Board.
Training Program Accreditation
In order to obtain EBU Accreditation, Urology Specialty Training Programs in our country must first possess a national competency certificate according to EBU rules. If they apply to the Accreditation Commission of the National Society with their self-assessment reports, the accreditation processes are initiated based on the report prepared by the visiting team assigned by the Accreditation Commission.
